Junior Math Relays

The 9th Annual PREP-KC Junior Math Relays will be held at Grandview High School from 8:30 am - 3 pm on March 4th, 2023.

Participants will compete in one individual, multi-round event covering content from various math topics and one team competition consisting of various problem-solving events.

There are levels to it

Math Benchmarking

Students will be placed in individual competitions based on their enrolled fall semester math course. Team competitions will consist of mixed groups (ages and course levels).

New Team Events

4 Students per team

Amazing race - Competitions will be set up in individual breakout rooms and move from simple to more complex problems-- students will move from one level to the next as they complete the problem-solving task.
Escape room – Students will work together solving problems to crack a code and solve the mystery.

Awards

Schools will be awarded a plaque that can be displayed in their school identifying them as a Gold, Silver or Bronze level school based on their score. All student participants will receive a medal that corresponds to the Gold, Silver and Bronze places earned by the school. The district that receives the highest percentage of points based on number of participants will also receive a traveling trophy. The winners are determined by a calculation of points earned in each competition.
